Casa Class
The Nelephant Casa Class is a peaceful working environment that prepares our 3 to 6 year old children for life-long learning.
This community of children from 3 to 6 years of age is a microcosm of society in which they learn to be responsible for themselves, their environment and each other. The environment is a loving, supportive place for each child to develop both academically and socially. In order to make sure that each child is reaching their individual potential, the Directress in the environment plans and gives lessons to each child independently. Additionally, the children will work in small groups or pairs on a variety of projects or activities.
The Casa aged child learns through their senses. The activities in this room can all be manipulated and touched in order to make a deeper impression of each concept in the child’s developing brain. The letters in the language area, for example, are made of sand so the child can feel the sound as they work with it. This allows the child to understand abstract concepts in a concrete way.
As part of Casa children take part in weekly music and French lessons and have daily physical activity outdoors. The core of the learning experience comes from five core areas of the classroom that the child will work within, all containing physically and mentally engaging materials.
To ensure a familiar and consistent environment, children attend five days per week (either half or full-days).
